I first decided to train one-on-one with Tyron after I did a drop in class at a box where Tyron was coaching and from the minute the warm-up started he started giving me cues and correcting my movement patterns and form in such a way that I didn’t feel like I was moving badly or “wasn’t good enough” but rather in a way that showed me you can always work to be a little better, it was then I realised I had a lot to learn and he had a ton of knowledge and experience to share.
I’d never worked with a coach one-on-one before and I was a little concerned it would be a generic “one size fits all approach’’ without listening to me. I’m so grateful it was nothing like that at all it the training was personalised and adjusted continuously with my best interests always being prioritised.I had a mind shift change completely while training with Tyron, I stopped chasing numbers and began to just enjoy the process, I become fixated with just wanted to move better…he taught me about virtuosity in training and how “more is not better, better is better” I can genuinely say now each day I enjoy just showing up and training to be just a little better than the day before.
My favourite part of training with Tyron was that he pushed me to conquer my own fears and self-doubt and helped me to know that sometimes it’s important to push harder and sometimes you need to pull back. He was both an incredible coach and supporter and friend.
If I had to describe Tyron’s coaching style, I would say it is both professional and fun. He has a wealth of knowledge to share but also always made sure the sessions were fun and there were laughs and high-fives at the end of it.
